South Georgia Peanuts manager Wally Backman is ejected during a game in Anderson, SC.

The events that led to Backman's ejection:

Outfielder Doc Brooks questions the location of a called strike
Later in the same at bat, the umpire calls a ball
Brooks looks at the umpire, words are exchanged
Brooks is ejected, Backman emerges from the dugout
Backman asks why his player was ejected, the umpire refuses to answer him, saying "You can read it in my report."

Following the ejection, Backman threw 22 bats and a bucket of balls onto the field.

South Georgia Peanuts hitting coach Larry Olenberger discusses some of the league's problems with manager Wally Backman. Specifically, the two were referring to multiple instances where the opposing manager didn't know the National League rules and/or made a lineup mistake during a pitching change. Under league rules, Backman could have had the opposing manager ejected from the game for the mistake, but he never did.

The Peanuts were confined to the dugout in Anderson, SC during a pregame rain delay before a game against the Anderson Joes. Because of the rain, the team was not allowed on the field, but the field lacked a clubhouse - resulting in several hours of milling about the dugout.

South Georgia Peanuts outfielder Jon Zeringue drops sunflower seeds into infielder Joey Hooft's hair as the team waits in the dugout during a pregame rain delay.

Hitting coach Larry Olenberger - who is in on the prank - comments that "somebody's got dandruff." At this point, Hooft realizes his hair is full of sunflower seeds.

Following this, manager Wally Backman notices Hooft's hair and, without knowing about the prank, offers to help pull things out of his third baseman's hair.

Hooft, thinking Backman is behind the prank, curses at Backman.

Both players agreed that the umpire's strike zone was small, to which Backman replied, "I'll get thrown out tonight, probably."

South Georgia Peanuts outfielder Doc Brooks breaks his bat on an RBI single, scoring Johnny Washington.

Following the single manager Wally Backman starts to give signs to the next batter - Jon Zeringue - before remembering that Zeringue doesn't know the signs. Zeringue was playing his first game with the team after being released by the Arizona Diamondbacks organization.

After getting some sunflower seeds from hitting coach Larry Olenberger, Backman looks across the diamond at the visiting Charlotte County Redfish and says, "Yup, these guys are bad."

Speaking of the city's lukewarm response to his team, Backman explains that "Baseball kinda screwed this town," referring to several minor league teams that had abruptly left the city after one season.
